Health & Safety

It goes without saying how important Health & Safety is to all of us especially at this time of Covid-19. As a Branch we currently have 2 H&S Reps –

Liz Smith – CC ESOL Lecturer

Les Rudkin – CC Send Lecturer

UCU H&S Reps attend the cross- college H&S Committee to represent the interest of staff members. This committee meets once a term and examines any issue relevant to H&S at the college including Safeguarding. You can also raise any H&S issue that you feel the college is not addressing with us to take forward on your behalf. This can be either a college wide issue or something specific to your own working practice.

It’s Your Time Workload Campaign

As part of our Pay Plus negotiations in 2019-2020 the college agreed to our demand to form a Workload Management Group so that issues across the college on excessive Workload could be examined as H&S issues and recommendations put forward for SMT approval.

With the new working practices that COVID-19 has forced upon us we will be requesting that this group looks at the extra demands and issues on-line working as well as other workload issues. For more info on this approach see here
